Something big is happening in the Greater Daytona Beach area—and it’s more than just sunshine and surf.
From major aerospace and aviation projects to exciting new grocery stores (finally, Trader Joe’s!), a next-level aquarium, and massive healthcare and industrial developments, this once-sleepy beach town is now making waves in all the best ways. Whether you’re a local, new to town, or thinking about investing in the area, here’s a peek at what’s on the horizon—and why so many people are paying attention to Daytona Beach.
Boeing’s Engineering Facility at Embry-Riddle
In partnership with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Boeing is opening a cutting-edge engineering facility focused on military aircraft and advanced technologies. Just opened in late 2024, this center is expected to bring nearly 400 high-paying jobs to the area. The aerospace buzz is real—and it’s putting Daytona on the map in a whole new way.
Bonjour, AURA AERO: French Innovation Comes to Florida
Daytona Beach is also the future U.S. home of AURA AERO, a French manufacturer of electric and hybrid-electric aircraft. Their new 10,000-square-foot facility at Embry-Riddle is just the beginning. Plans are already in motion for a 500,000-square-foot manufacturing plant at Daytona Beach International Airport, where they aim to build up to 100 aircraft per year. That’s more than 1,000 new jobs and a major boost to the region’s aviation reputation.
Grocery Game-Changers: Trader Joe’s, Sprouts & Maybe More
If you’ve been craving more variety in your grocery shopping, good news:
• Trader Joe’s is officially coming to Daytona Beach (location and timeline still hush-hush).
• Sprouts Farmers Market is under construction at Williamson Crossing, with a planned opening later this year.
• The Fresh Market is rumored to be scouting sites, though nothing is confirmed—yet.
For foodies and health-conscious shoppers, this is a major upgrade.
AdventHealth Expansion: More Beds, Bigger Services
To support the area’s growth, AdventHealth Daytona Beach is investing $220 million into expanding its facilities. That includes 104 new inpatient beds, four new surgical suites, and significant additions to their ICU and pharmacy. It’s one of the largest healthcare investments the area has seen—and a huge win for the future of local medical care.
Daytona Aquarium & Rainforest Adventure: Now Open!
Looking for something fun (and educational)? The new Daytona Aquarium opened in early 2024 with nearly 40 exhibits, including a 100,000-gallon shark tank, stingray touch pools, and interactive displays. Phase 2 will include a lush indoor rainforest with sloths, monkeys, tropical birds, and more. It’s a great new attraction for families, visitors, and locals alike.
Jackie Robinson Ballpark: A National Commemorative Site
In January 2025, Daytona Beach made national history. The Jackie Robinson Ballpark was designated as a National Commemorative Site, honoring its powerful legacy in civil rights and baseball history. It’s now part of the African American Civil Rights Network and could soon become a full National Historic Landmark.
Space Coast Industrial Park in Edgewater
Just down the road in Edgewater, a 1-million-square-foot industrial complex is coming to life. The Space Coast Industrial Park will serve companies in aerospace and space-related tech, offering Class A warehouse space to meet growing demand. Phase 1 includes two buildings, and construction is expected to kick off in 2025.
What does all of this mean?
Daytona Beach isn’t just a place to vacation—it’s becoming a true destination for innovation, opportunity, and long-term growth. Between new jobs, retail, culture, and infrastructure, this area is experiencing a transformation that’s catching the attention of everyone from business leaders to relocating families and investors.
